Some sites are also equipped with other sensors such as temperature, wind, pressure, river stage or tide level.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>ALBEDO<\/strong>\u00a0-The percentage of light reflected by an object.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>ALTOCUMULUS<\/strong>\u00a0<b>(AC<\/b>) &#8211; Mid-altitude clouds with a cumuliform shape.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>ALTOSTRATUS<\/strong>\u00a0-Mid-altitude clouds with a flat sheet-like shape.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>AMPLIFICATION<\/strong><b>: (AMPLFCTN)<\/b>&#8211; Building, or sharpening, of an upper level high pressure ridge or low pressure trough.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>ANABATIC<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; wind flowing up an incline, such as up a hillside; upslope wind.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>ANEMOMETER<\/strong>&#8211; An instrument that measures wind speed.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>ANGULAR MOMENTUM<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; the energy of motion of a spinning body or mass of air or water.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>ANTICYCLONE<\/strong>&#8211; A large area of high pressure around which the winds blow clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>ARCTIC AIR<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; a mass of very cold, dry air that usually originates over the Arctic Ocean north of Canada and Alaska.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>ARCTIC HIGH<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; a very cold high pressure that originates over the Arctic Ocean.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>ASOS<\/strong>\u00a0-Automated Surface Observing System.
