Weather Glossary – V VVEERING WINDS – A clockwise change in wind direction. Veering winds with height are indicative of warm air advection (WAA).VERY WINDY – Sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph.VIRGA– Precipitation falling from the base of a cloud and evaporating before it reaches the ground.VISIBILITY– The horizontal distance an observer can see and identify a prominent object.VORTICITY- A measure of the amount of “spin” (rotation) and “shear” in the atmosphere.
